GCA Energy Limited has executed a major EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning) contract for five (5) GE Panametrics Gas Flare Flow Meters for Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited at its facility in Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria.
This high-impact project plays a vital role in enhancing gas flare measurement, supporting environmental compliance, and improving operational efficiency within Nigeria’s gas export infrastructure.
Project Scope: Enhancing Accuracy and Compliance
Job Description:
- ✔️ Engineering Design of flare metering systems
- ✔️ Procurement of GE Panametrics technology
- ✔️ Installation at NLNG’s Bonny terminal
- ✔️ Commissioning of all five flare meters
Technology Deployed:
- 🛠️ GE Panametrics Flare Flow Meters – known for non-intrusive, high-precision gas flow monitoring under harsh operating conditions.
As of September 2018, 4 out of the 5 flare meters were successfully installed and commissioned. GCA achieved the installation of the sensors on stainless steel pipes as large as 48 inches using the hot tap technique. The team demobilized from the site after this accomplishment, awaiting the readiness of the 5th line by NLNG.
The 5th flare meter was finally commissioned in 2023, meeting international standards and all Nigerian regulatory requirements.

Capacity Building Through Local Training
In line with the Nigerian Content Development (NCD) Act, GCA Energy has conducted a comprehensive training for NLNG operations personnel on the installed systems. This initiative ensures:
